The Little Bumblebee

The Little Bumblebee stands on its own merits as a delightful children’s story, capturing the innocence of childhood. Yet it provides an invaluable lesson that can be easily understood, one that is of paramount concern to all parents. “Be careful,” Mother Bumblebee warns. “Don’t go into the yard with the white picket fence.” But instead of listening to his mother, the little bumblebee follows the strange bee into the yard and soon finds himself captured in a glass jar by the young girl who lives there. Only through his wits does the little bumblebee finally outsmart his captor and save himself. With the story’s happy ending comes an important lesson for all children to learn. As Mother Bumblebee cautions, “You must never, ever go off with a stranger—no matter what he says.”
