BIG MUDDY is the second novel about a unique, fictionalized journey taken by Xavier Owen Selfe down the mighty Missouri and Mississippi Rivers, a risky raft trip taken while he was still an impetuous young man fresh out of art school. Selfe, a shy Missourian whose first literary foray was the novel, DELUSIONAL, an odyssey that also ends with a twist. His career as a visual artist has been widely celebrated for 40 years in university exhibitions in several states and countries in Europe and South America, highlighted by a National Endowment for the Arts Regional Award, among others. An homage to another old Missourian, BIG MUDDY paints a darker modern patina on Mark Twain’s most famous classic novel.
