Clevis Pladstock is dying. The cancer that's invaded his throat has worked in both directions steadily; the top of the hourglass is nearly sandless. Laying on what he knows will be his deathbed Mr. Pladstock has one last story to tell, and it's of the double homicide that occurred on the Bicentennial. Yes, all those years ago a young boy and a Supervisor at the Wyvern Group Home for Boys were found murdered at shortly after midnight. In the end three employees of Wyvern did time for the crime, but it is Clevis who knows the truth that's hidden in Wyvern's walls. The truth that whispers in the trees that hang over the brick building with the yellowed shutters. And he writes of Wyvern, and the double homicide, as the last act in the play that been his lifetime.
