I Am Hannah Ward

They say I lived through the Civil War. They say I was chased by Indians. They say I was Indian. They say they know who I am. They say they know my daughter. They say they know why I ran. They say they can still hear my agonizing screams. They are afraid of me, but I am just a young woman. I am not much different than they are. I had many of the same desires, same fears. I am a daughter, a wife, a mother and on that day, I was simply a person who was trying to make a difference. I am Hannah Ward.
