LIZZIE AND THE COLONEL

This is a story of the American war as it swung from Valley Forge to Philadelphia to CharlesTown to Savannah affecting everyone's life, rich or poor, black or white, and because it is in a woman's viewpoint, it is about women and war, the waiting, the worry, the grief and of course the romance because romance persists, war or not, possible or not. When General McIntosh's two daughters, Catherine and Elizabeth, with a slave couple, travel north from Georgia to Valley Forge to keep house for their father during winter camp, they meet Lt. Col. John Laurens, son of a longtime friend of their father, South Carolina's wealthy Henry Laurens, currently President of the Second Continental Congress. John, currently an aide-de-camp to General Washington and already something of a battlefield hero. has two passions, to free the colonies from England and to free the slaves. And that is where there this story begins.
