Strange and Familiar Places is a passionate and gripping novel of ideas and sex, music and art, of creative play and psychopathology. It is centered on an independent-minded woman who rejects the religious and moral pieties of the day. Sometimes at the edge, at other times in the centre of the bilingual community and world she inhabits, she plays dangerously with temptation and seduction. She risks her marriage to a minister whose beliefs she does not share--alienating her daughter, and salvaging her damaged heart.

About the Author:

Kenneth Radu's first collection of short stories, The Cost of Living, was short-listed for the 1988 Governor General's Award for Fiction. His first novel, Distant Relations, won the 1989 QSPELL Fiction Prize and was shortlisted for the Books in Canada/W.H. Smith First Novel Award. The short story collection, A Private Performance, which the Toronto Star called "a collection of sparkling gems" won the 1991 QSPELL Fiction Prize. His second novel, Home Fires, was published in 1992. Kenneth Radu lives in St-Polycarpe, Quebec.
