World Forgotten: Selected Poems 1989-1996

Chosen from the first four books published by Paul Bélanger, this selection of poems provides an overview of the work of an acclaimed French Canadian poet. With "Projet de Pablo," a finalist for the émile Nelligan Award, Bélanger began to cultivate his memory using various kinds of tools, with Picasso's works as pretext to compare painting to poetry. In "Retours,"a finalist for the Governor General Award, the poet travels within to face the strangeness of the internal world. "L'oubli du monde" explores personal memory, as autobiography crosses history with well-tempered lyricism; and "Fenêtres et ailleurs"shows a man tackling existential issues.
