Sources for a History of Western Civilization

Burger (history, Mississippi U. for Women) has carefully edited a substantial group of sources, creating readings accessible to undergraduates. In order to accommodate courses of varying length, volume two begins with the Protestant Reformation and Scientific Revolution, also found in volume one. This volume also includes readings that concern the Enlightenment, American independence, nationalism in Europe and the New World, suffrage, civil rights, WWII, Watergate, the women's movement, and the European Union. Each reading is preceded by a brief paragraph explaining its background. A series of b&w plates of Baroque through contemporary art and architecture are included. Annotation c.
