In this revision of the out-of-print Mushrooms of North America (1991), a nature photographer/author of best-selling natural history guides (and he has a species named after him) addresses both novice and experienced mycologists. Following the warning to "never eat any mushroom that you are not certain is edible," this comprehensive field guide introduces the most common genera with descriptions of physical characteristics, edibility, habitat, and growing season. What makes the approximately 1,000 color photos unique is that he photographed specimens under ideal studio conditions, showing various parts and stages of growth.
