The Golden Age of Islam

Writing within the Annales school, French historian Maurice (1904- 65) links the expansion and efflorescence of Islamic civilization from the seventh through the eleventh centuries to the conjunction of underlying structures of geography, geological deposits, and human populations. Islam dans sa première grandeur was assembled from lecture notes and similar materials after his death and published by Editions Flammarion in 1971.
