Arctic Quest: Odyessy Through a Threatened Wilderness

In 1991 Kister, an environmental activist and journalist, took a 700- mile journey through the Arctic Refuge—the last intact ecosystem left in North America and the largest wildlife sanctuary in the world. As he went he found hundreds of reasons why the area should not be developed, in the forms of shimmering indigenous fish, wolves in desperate hunt of limited food in a confined habitat, Old Griz, and centuries of tradition amongst those born there.
