Resist!: Christian Dissent for the 21st Century

Taking their cue from the gospels and the prophetic tradition, the contributors to this volume issue spirited calls to resist systemic evils in the realm of politics, economics, and culture. Beginning with Paula Cooeys reflections on Jesus and his example of prayerful resistance, followed by a review of the history of Christian resistance in America, contributors address such themes as the challenge of empire, racism and the spirit of xenophobia, environmental depredation, and the culture of consumerism and individualism.
