Responding to the Challenge: Current Issues and International Perspectives on Developmental Disabilities

This book was developed in honor of Professor Gunnar Dybwad on the occasion of his 90th birthday and is a celebration of his lifetime of work with persons who have intellectual limitations, their families, and the professionals who have provided service and support to them. The 24 papers by his colleagues from around the world testify to the extent of his work overseas, and here in the U.S. and Canada, with his wife, Rosemary. The papers address areas such as legal issues, freeing persons with intellectual limitations from dead-end lives in institutions, engaging in self advocacy, and allaying the concerns of family and friends.
