This book is written for the amateur fly tier looking for a resource to help prepare and preserve wild game suitable for the vise. You certainly don't have to be a hunter to take advantage of this book. One doesn't have to look far (especially in fly fishing circles) to find a hunter who is willing to part with an animal carcass which is going to be put to good use. Most likely, that hunter will be flattered by the inquiry. In fact, hunters may well be lining up at your front door once they realize you are willing to clean their bounty at no charge.

Of course, there are other ways to collect game. For example, fresh roadkill. Unfortunately, those rare opportunities seem to arise only on trips when my wife happens to be present in the car. I have never been able to convince her that it would be worthwhile to stop. Oh well, happy hunting, as they say.
