Supply Chain Science

Hopp was formerly the Breed University Professor at Northwestern University in the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science, where he was also Director of the Master of Management in Manufacturing program, jointly sponsored by McCormick and the Kellogg School of Management.

Hopp and Mark Spearman co-authored Factory Physics, which received the IIE Joint Publishers Book of the Year award. Hopp has also received Fellow awards from IIE, INFORMS, SME, POMS and M&SOM, as well as the SME Sargent Americanism Award, the IIE Award for Technical Innovation in Industrial Engineering and the SME Education Award. He has consulted with over 30 companies, including Motorola, Dell, IBM, GM, Ford and Intel and has received many research grants from the National Science Foundation. Wally earned a BS from Michigan State in Physics and MS in Technology and Human Affairs from Washington University. He received an MS and his PhD in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1984.
