The Marxian Imagination: Representing Class in Literature

Markels (emeritus, English, Ohio State U.) explores the various ways class is represented in literary texts. He shows how a Marxian imagination is at work in readings of novels such as Dickens' Hard Times and Kingsolver's Poisonwood Bible and critiques the work of Marxist literary theorists Raymond Williams and Fredric Jameson.
