From Nuclei and Their Constituents to Stars

These papers from the August 2002 courses on Lake Como seek to embed nuclear physics in the larger context of hadronic physics in all disciplines, ensuring that experimental and theoretical physics continue to inform and enlighten each other. As the editors tell us, in general, topics include "examinations of nuclear structure, how atomic nuclei are examined by the scattering of high-energy electrons, and how they react when accelerated at ultra-relativistic energies." This leads to searches for quark-gluon plasma, thence to QCD and chiral perturbation theory, and on to their relationship to the structure of stars and their histories.
