Novel Targets in Breast Disease

Lipkowitz (National Cancer Institute) presents current work on breast cancer therapies that take advantage of molecular targets. The first two chapters review molecular targets for breast cancer, and remaining chapters discuss a variety of approaches that have not yet been validated as effective for breast cancer, including the development of inhibitors of signal transduction pathways downstream of the activated receptor tyrosine kinases, agents that target the cytoplasmic or nuclear phases of signal transduction, the manipulation of protein degradation, and the development of drugs that inhibit heat shock protein 90.
