Research on Physics Education

Only recently has it been recognized that being very good at research in physics does not necessary make someone even competent, let alone good, at teaching it. The 32 lectures and a summary of a round table printed here look at some of the problems by considering how the development of cognitive models for learning physics interfaces with the physics contents for contemporary and future society, the analysis of teaching strategies, the role of experiments, the issue of assessment, and cultural aspects.
