Mitt, the Michigan Mouse

Mitt, a young white-footed mouse, lives happily in a wool mitten deep in the forest until a boy happens by with his rather large dog who snatches Mitt's beloved home. Mitt embarks on a journey across Michigan to retrieve his warm and cozy mitten, seeing many sights and having many adventures.

Mitt, the Michigan Mouse is the first book in the series of four stories about a family of mice and their journeys throughout the Great Lakes states—Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois. In each book, readers will learn about the state that is the book's setting while enjoying the adventures of Mitt and Minn. Series is aimed at young and emergent readers grade level one to five, spanning high ability young readers and reluctant low ability higher-grade readers.
