Women and Globalization in the Arab Middle East: Gender, Economy and Society

Contributors present ten essays discussing various aspects of the political, cultural, and economic life of women in the Arab Middle East. The first three essays address employment, production, and reproduction in reforming Middle Eastern economies. Case studies then address a variety of topics including structural adjustment and women's employment in Egypt; state feminism and economic reform in Tunisia; and militias and home life among Sudanese women.
