Storytelling Sociology: Narrative as Social Inquiry

Primarily sociologists but also other social scientists demonstrate how personal narrative can be part of a more self-reflective form of sociology that engages practitioners more fully as human beings rather than as detached theoreticians or researchers. Within the broad themes of family and place, the body, education and work, and the passing of time, they tell stories about their life course, spatial and temporal roots, how the social is embodied in their skin and bones, and time in various institutional worlds.
