In the orthopedic realm, some of the most exciting innovations in IR are occurring in common areas of pain and debility, and especially in new therapies for back pain. The last couple of years have seen an explosion of interest in a new, minimally invasive IR procedures for the treatment of back pain, such as the fluoroscopically guided treatment option called intradiscal electrothermal therapy, or IDET. This book provides the interventional radiologists with a single source for evaluating and treating the patient with back pain, and thus has a broad appeal, targeting in particular all interventional and diagnostic radiologists with any interest in orthopedic practice, but also reaching out to all physicians and allied health practitioners who deal with spinal treatment, including sports medicine and physical therapy professionals.
