Author Bio: Paul Robb received his Ph.D. in psychology from Loyola University in Chicago, where he then taught for a few years. Robb then became the Director of Novices for the Chicago Province of the Society of Jesus. Following that he became a professor of spirituality and ministry at the Jesuit School of Theology in Chicago. In 1971 he founded the Institute for Spiritual Leadership in Chicago. The Institute sponsored a ninemonth program for the education of spiritual directors that was international and ecumenical. It focused on study of the ways God intervenes in our lives, aids toward selfknowledge, and the art and skills of spiritual direction. The students, all over 35 years of age, were men and women, lay and religious. Robb's ninemonth course addressed the dynamics and process of conversion at midlife.
