Canandaigua Fire Department: 200 Years of Service 1816-2016

For 200 years, firefighters in the upstate New York community of Canandaigua have protected the people, homes and businesses in this gem of the Finger Lakes region. The name Canandaigua comes from the native Seneca people, and means “The Chosen Spot”.

Canandaigua is a beautiful, vibrant and richly historic place. The peace treaty between the United States and the Iroquois Confederacy was signed here. Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony often spoke here. Susan B. Anthony's trial for “illegal voting” was held here.
