Dr. Heck Glenn, a passenger on the plane did himself proud in providing emergency treatment to the badly wounded. He was assigned Chief of both Surgery and Medicine of a small Vietnamese Hospital whose doctors were in the forests with their own South Vietnamese troops. In addition, Dr. Glenn was responsible for sanitation and health of a nearby camp of displaced families. A Bubonic Plague Epidemic broke out there. Dr. Glenn distinguished himself the way he handled it.
After the war ended, he became Chief of Bacteriology at Biological Laboratories. He investigates the absence of many sealed containers of deadly, but live Bubonic Plague germs at a nearby lab. Intrigue follows a race against death in running down the perpetrators.
