Protecting Threatened Animals is about protecting rare and threatened species from the risk of extinction. In this book, you can find out about World Heritage sites that protect animals that the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) considers vulnerable, endangered, or critically endangered.

Everglades National Park, United States - protecting between 80 and 100 critically endangered Florida panthers

Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries, China - protecting 500 of the 1,600 endangered giant pandas still living in the wild

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda - protecting almost half of the world's endangered mountain gorillas

Te Wahipounamu, New Zealand - protecting the vulnerable Kea, intelligent alpine parrots
