'Eric Brighteyes' is H. Rider Haggard's epic viking novel. Stylistically it is clearly modelled on the Icelandic sagas, although the story itself has more in common with later medieval tales of chivalry, with Eric attempting to win the hand of his beloved Gudruda through many trials and tribulations.
