This book is about the U.S. foreign policy during Vietnam War from the point of view of the former Soviet Radio and TV correspondent in Indochina. The book seamlessly combines personal memoirs of the author and a rigorous historical examination of the US policy in Vietnam. Importantly, this analysis is reminiscent of the current political problems touching Americans. In the minds of the Americans, the war in Iraq, which is pulling the US deeper into a political and economic crisis, is associated more and more with the Vietnam War. At the same time, the majority of current generation of Americans has but a vague understanding of the Vietnam War.
