Orders of Magnitude

All over the United States today American manufacturing facilities and jobs are being transferred to third world countries. This is totally unnecessary and totally wrong. The war against terrorism and morality aside, this is the biggest problem facing our country today. This madness will continue until someone stops it.

As an alternative to this massive American job giveaway, American companies can, and should, reduce their manufacturing costs and/or improve their product quality, not by small percentages, but by orders of magnitude (OM), of 10 times, 20 times, 50 times, 100 times, 1000 times, or more. An OM improvement of 100 times reduces a current unit manufacturing cost of $10.00 down to $.10. An OM improvement of 1000 times reduces that cost down to $.01. Use tax breaks to finance the program and this book to tell us how to do it.

Americans cannot approach manufacturing in the same way it is approached in third world countries and compete in a globalized economic system. The difference in wages and benefits make this an absurd proposition. The only way we can compete in a globalized economic system is to approach manufacturing in a completely different way.
