Pearl of Great Price: A History and Commentary

The Pearl of Great Price is holy scripture. Profound doctrine is pronounced in the first few verses, and that pattern continues throughout the entire text.

The original preface of the Pearl of Great Price states that it was "not adapted, nor designed, as a pioneer of the faith among unbelievers." It was compiled to strengthen the Saints, to "increase their ability to maintain and to defend the holy faith by becoming possessors of it."

This History and Commentary has been written to fill the need of the Latter-day Saints for an up-to-date, comprehensive history and commentary on the Pearl of Great Price.

The book is divided into two major sections: The History and then The Commentary. The history explain the origin and development of the Pearl of Great Price, the origins of the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible, the coming forth of the book of Abraham, the origin and development of the Church written by the Prophet Joseph Smith, and the origin of the Articles of Faith.
