The Nonwestern World: Perspectives on the Developing World and Its Peoples

"In a globalized age, the need to understand the lives of others throughout the world has become increasingly important. The Nonwestern World: Perspectives on the Developing World and its Peoples examines the people, places and issues facing the developing world (non-Western) and the future of its relationship with the developed world (Western). This text brings together scholarship from a variety of academic perspectives to explore the issues and themes central to the study of the developing world and its peoples.

Each section of The Nonwestern World includes a variety of discussion questions that are designed to give instructors the tools needed to engage their students in broader discussions on the developing world. With a range of relevant and current topics, students will be able to apply the lessons they learned from the book to their observations of events happening in the real-world today. This is an ideal text for courses dealing with the politics of the developing world, developing world culture, and globalization.

Dr. Kevin E. Grisham is the Coordinator of the Social Science Bachelor of Arts Program and Faculty Adviser for the Model United Nations and Model Arab League Programs at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). He is a Global Studies faculty member within the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies. His research focuses on the politics and economics of the developing world, politics of the Middle East and North Africa, and the study of terrorism, guerrilla movements, and insurgencies. He received his Ph.D. (2009) and M.A. (2005) from the University of California, Riverside in Political Science.
