Hubert Platt: Fast Fords of the "Georgia Shaker"

Long before Hubert Platt became the "Georgia Shaker" he was running moonshine between Georgia and South Carolina. Gifted at the wheel, a run-in with the law in 1958 ended his time on the country back roads. Hubert made the wise decision take his wheelman skills from the dirt to the asphalt and started campaigning a pair of Chevys (1938, 1957) for the Terminal Transport Racing Team.

Platt's first big break came when he received a Z11 Chevrolet and was teamed up with future Ford star "Dyno" Don Nicholson. However, when Chevy pulled out of racing in mid-1963 Hubert made the permanent transition to the Blue Oval and campaigned a 1963 R-code Galaxie. Subsequent years saw Platt running legendary cars including a 1964 Thunderbolt, Holman-Moody long-nosed Mustang, 1968-1/2 Cobra Jet, Boss 429 Maverick, and Pro Stock Pinto. After a long and successful career, Hubert Platt was elected into the NHRA Hall of Fame in 1986.
