Platt's first big break came when he received a Z11 Chevrolet and was teamed up with future Ford star "Dyno" Don Nicholson. However, when Chevy pulled out of racing in mid-1963 Hubert made the permanent transition to the Blue Oval and campaigned a 1963 R-code Galaxie. Subsequent years saw Platt running legendary cars including a 1964 Thunderbolt, Holman-Moody long-nosed Mustang, 1968-1/2 Cobra Jet, Boss 429 Maverick, and Pro Stock Pinto. After a long and successful career, Hubert Platt was elected into the NHRA Hall of Fame in 1986.
Author Wayne DeWald, along with Hubert's son Allen Platt, present this chronological history of Hubert Platt's racing career. Included are never-before-seen, personal photos from the Platt Family Collection, accompanied by records and documents showcasing Hubert Platt's illustrious drag racing career.
