Drawing on letters, journal entries, AA conference speeches, and recorded conversations-many never published before-Dr. Bob and Bill W. Speak reveals the cofounders' contributions to the creation and development of AA, the Big Book, and the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions. The book explores their lives, starting with their early drinking days, while the recordings span several decades, from their first speeches in the 1940s through Bill W.'s last talk in 1970.

AA historian and archivist Michael Fitzpatrick used research conducted at Stepping Stones (the former home of Bill W.) and Dr. Bob's home as well as excerpts from the AA Grapevine and his own audio archive.
