COPD/Chronic Asthma: A Patient's Guide

Why a monograph about COPD and Chronic Asthma? The answer is quite simple. I believe effective medical care begins with a good history, which requires a physician who "listens and hears." That is universally accepted. Less appreciated is the role of the patient in generating a history-a history that is the story the patient wants the practitioner to "hear" and not a story the physician is receiving through a preconceived bias. This bias is often strongly influenced by the manner in which the practitioner asks his/her questions. A good history begins with a good storyteller: YOU, the PATIENT!
