Foregone Future

After the Gridcrash and the Collapse, rag-tag teams of people band together for survival and to create new societies. Chief Robert Dominick leads the militia of Defense Force for South Gate...and, belonging to the Order of Knights, is bound by a knight's honor.

Using scavenged metal, guns, and inventions built from scrap, they create weapons of war, both for defense and to overcome other violent, regional populations. A serious error in judgment causes Dominick to lose someone he loves and creates an archenemy who will rise again to confront him. Meanwhile, life in their own new society suffers from upheavals as politicians go crooked... and even those blessed with spiritual guidance cannot tame the reckless spirit of the new order.

Massive battles ensue as Dominick's forces take on unprincipled marauders. But things are just heating up, as a deciphered communiqué reveals a ruthless band of pirates, the Concordians, have targeted Dominick's holdings. With mixtures of machine and beast, they are ruthlessly attacked, outmanned, and seemingly outgunned by the worst kind of humans ever: slavers. Only by using wits and maintaining power can they overcome their impending doom...a doom that would suppress their people into lawlessness and slavery.
