The Song of Fraser River

This is a literary collection of Mei Hui Schmidt, a Chinese Canadian writer who is also a member of Canada Chinese Writers Association.

Jingzhu, a woman born and grown up in Taiwan, fell in love with Hu Renjie, an outstanding American, and married him against the wishes of her family and the community. When China opened her door to the world in the early 1980s, Hu Renjie, like many Sinologists, took the opportunity to do research there.

Deng Hong was born and grown up during the chaotic period of China. She worked part time for Hu Renjie. A relationship soon developed between them and Hu Renjie abandoned his family for her.

Jingzhu moved on with her life and finally found true love. But she is hesitant to accept him because she now realizes that only God's love is eternal, like the Fraser River flowing ceaselessly with the touch of the wind.

Readers will be moved to rethink the real meaning of life and love. The author makes excellent use of her traveling experiences, endowing the text with a very special flavor.
