The Lost Cause; a New Southern History of the War of the Confederates

Edward Alfred Pollard, a native of Virginia, was a secessionist and supporter of the Confederacy during the Civil War. His book, The Lost Cause, was written in 1866 after the defeat of the Confederacy, and gave the name to the "Lost Cause" movement in the South. A table of contents is included.
