The Victory of Mary Christopher: A Story of Tomorrow

Mary Christopher learns a very personal lesson on the practice of tithing into the Kingdom of God in this short novel. The stories of Mary Christopher, the story's title figure, her pastor and fellow parishioners at Trinity Church, serve to illustrate the biblical reasons why many Christians believe that giving a tenth of their income to the local church and related ministries is a highly recommended act of worship and devotion of God.

Reviews: In the Little Books on Practice series a most useful book is "The Victory of Mary Christopher," by Rev. Harvey Reeves Calkins. It is a story, but distinctly a story with a purpose. It is a most attractive and convincing statement of the case for systematic giving in general, and for the tithe in particular. Mr. Calkins has introduced some arguments which are not generally known, but which strengthen materially the position of those who stand for the definite setting aside of one-tenth for God's work.
