As LEAVING EAST KEESTER opens Mark and his wife Lisa, upper middle class white kids, struggle to first avoid and then maximize his required military service. Follow their bizarre twists on what might have been an ordinary story as Mark experiences basic training, officer training and assignments blessedly free from war zones, but certainly no walks in the woods, especially since trees don't grow in most of their story's venues.
The author wishes to make it perfectly clear that any resemblance of the characters in this book to anyone living or dead is purely coincidental, and has nothing to do with the author's reputation for making a huge pain in the butt of himself. However, mention is made of former president of the United States of America, Richard M. Nixon, who may have been real. This, of course, is in direct conflict with what many members of his Cabinet have been purported to say, and I quote, "Mr. President, are you for real?"
