“It Wasn’t Supposed to Happen in Newtown, Connecticut”

(The Newtown, Connecticut, massacre was a powerful reminder of gun violence in America. This small town was cast as virginal, pure and not at all urban. How could such a thing happen there, and not in the urban (aka black/brown) parts of the country. My comments expressed my frustration with the lack of meaningful action on stopping the glut of guns in our communities, and also to recognize the subtle nature of the argument about guns.)
