Author Biography: Kenneth Grahame (1859-1932) was born in Edinburgh, but spent much of his childhood in England, in his grandmother's home near the Thames River. He worked as a clerk in the Bank of England, and started to write in his spare time. Grahame began to tell bedtime stories about a mole and a rat to his son, and The Wind in the Willows was published in 1908.
Sally Grindley began writing for children in 1984, and is now the author of many acclaimed books. her adaptation of The Wind in the Willows retains the atmosphere of the original while making it accessible to young children.
Eric Copeland was born in Britain, but now lives in Canada. His delightful illustrations in The Wind in the Willows capture the humor of the animal characters and bring to life the charm of the English countryside. He has also illustrated Brer Rabbit for Dorling Kindersley.
