The Unthinkable Quest

To abandon the American dream of self-reliance for a life of self-denial is unthinkable! Yet, this is exactly what Jesus, the rabbi from Galilee, asked of his followers. It is written that, "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple" (Luke 14:26-27). Missional faith is that which connects to the tired, the poor, the huddled masses, the homeless and tempest-tossed. To make this happen believers must recapture the essence of that church community where it can be said that twenty-first century Christians are, "These who have turned the world upside down" (Acts 17:6).

A missional Faith recognizes the plight of individual Christians struggling to justify their faith within an ambient culture. The Unthinkable Quest reopens the door to a Christianity, as introduced by Jesus, that is strangely absent in our churches today. Modern men and women have a choice-like every generation since the time of Adam and Eve-the choice s that which was first dramatized by Joshua who challenged his generation to "choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve . . . But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD" (John 24:15). The questions this book will answer include:
