Five marriages, five men, all military, all having gone AWOL, and all having had a Court Martial, the author, Jackie Strickland, was clueless about why she would have chosen the same type man to marry over and over again. After many years of therapy she finally accepted that there was something sadly broken inside herself that kept her from being able to choose a suitable man for marriage. Having so much success in her life otherwise made it hard for her to admit defeat in the area of matrimony, but when she at last came to grips with that awareness, she learned that there was much more to life than men and misery. Living single for twenty-five happy years and coming full circle, she immersed herself in writing and painting, fulfilling her lifelong dreams and becoming well known for both.
