The Best of Times: The Journey

They both were born of poor immigrants and survived the unhealthy conditions of New York City tenement life and survived the deadly flu pandemic of 1918. They lived through the anti-immigrant bias, the horror of World War I, the lawless environment of the Roaring Twenties, bootlegging and the economic deprivation of the Great Depression. Al fought at Guadalcanal in World War II. Their son fought in Vietnam. The love for each other endured with a marriage that lasted seventy five years.

The story depicts the young couple of how they lived and how they died.

They lived to benefit from the joys of having a son, five grand-children and six great-grand-children.
