False Adequacy: Finding God at the End of You

Do you consider yourself a prideful person or know someone that is? Many times, we overlook pride and don't see it for what it is which is relying on our own strength and seeking our own way. When we do this, we reject the will of God for our lives. In this book, the author shares his story of a time in his life that he had to deal with humility. He was forced to walk to all his destinations for a while after his car broke down and he didn't have the money to fix it. Then, he realized that he was a very prideful person and had been living his life to please only himself and not the Lord. He teaches the reader that we as Christians have a false perception that God wants to make us look good and this is a fallacy. The truth is that our virtues, gifts and talents have been given to us by God to glorify Himself. Not us. Once we understand this, then we can truly live in such a way to bring glory to God which in turn brings us much freedom and joy.
