Detective Márquez is a five letter word starting with a capital B. At least that's what her coworkers think. Lately, it's what she thinks. A bristly demeanor is a useful persona to have when interviewing suspects. When the young Milena Walker claims her husband was murdered, Detective Márquez figures it won't take much to get the truth from the fragile-looking widow. Her first words stun the veteran detective. "I've been sleeping with men for money since I was fourteen." As the widow tells how her life of prostitution led to her marrying the richest man in Texas, Detective Márquez finds she's thinking less about the truth and more about a one-night stand she can't get out of her mind, a man who might be dangerous, who might be a killer. But that might be why she's so attracted to him.
