The Philippines A Century Hence

José Rizal was a Filipino author, poet, and revolutionary, executed by the occupying Spanish forces in 1896. This essay, published posthumously in 1889, provides analysis of the social and economic issues of the day and how the country could possibly move forward into a better future. The Philippines would win their independence not long after the publishing of the article with help from the United States.
