All About Frederick Douglass

Frederick Douglass was one of the best-known African Americans of the nineteenth-century. He was born into slavery but learned to read, write, and successfully escape. Frederick Douglass became a great orator, writer, and newspaper editor. He wrote his life's autobiography three separate times and went on to advise eight American presidents, including Abraham Lincoln. Frederick Douglass fought for the abolition of slavery and believed in social and political activism to better the lives of all Americans.
