On the 11th of March, 542 years ago, the last Grand Master of the whole Order of the Temple breathed his last; and our noble brotherhood ceased publicly to exist as a great religio-military institution. The anniversary of his martyrdom should ever be held in sacred remembrance by all Knights Templars,
whether they follow the banner of the Cross and Serpent," that of the Black Eagle, or that of the Blood red Cross.

I shall not attempt, at present, to trace the origin and antiquity of our symbols, nor the connection which exists between Freemasonry and Templarism. But, I shall endeavor to give, so far as the brief period allowed me will permit, a historical sketch of our illustrious Order from its foundation to the present day.
